Hot Tapping and Line Stopping- Ideal Techniques for Ease of Usage

Hot tapping and line stopping is considered to be great source for various companies in oil and gas companies. If they get to see some problem in their pipelines then they contact the service providers for hot tapping and line stopping services. It is the duty of these companies to detect the problem so as to avoid any kind of shutdown in the operations and to also save the clients from losing any amount of money.

We all may have heard about these popular terms like hot tapping and line stopping, but many of us do not know what exactly they mean in detail or what exactly the difference between the two is. So let’s take a look about the exact meaning of both the processes in detail-

Hot Tapping

Hot tapping is also popularly known as under pressure drilling and it is considered to be a well-planned out process that can be carried out on all types of pipes that carry the liquids at different high temperatures and pressures. There is no requirement for a shutdown.

Line Stopping

It is a form of a temporary isolation that is used in a live pipe and it is a great way where a total shutdown cannot be an option. In this process a bypass can be installed so as to maintain a regular level of flow without any disturbance in the services. This method can be used in common pipe materials like steel and plastics.

Live Connection in Existing Pipeline

Live connection without any kind of disruption is liked by everyone. In fact it is the most favorite of today generation people who don’t have enough time to spare for any kind of work that takes more time. I used to think that I would be getting a plumber this weekend so that the leakage would be fixed but I hadn’t imagined that it would not take much of my time. When I saw my schedule, I realized that I was not getting week off this week. So, I had to call experts from Allied pipe freezing to get it fixed.

Under pressure drilling was the technique that I liked most; I thought that they had to stop the existing pipe connection that was fixed to by washroom. I was being worried that I would be late for office as they will be closing the pipeline for a while and I won’t be able to take a bath, but I was wrong. Their way of operating is totally different. During shrink fitting they don’t stop the live pipe line. Instead, a branch connection is made to a live pipe.

In this connection, a valve is fitted then with the help of drilling machine they make a small hole in the pipe. Then, after drilling the valve is closed. It is beneficial when the showdown is not practical and can be operated on almost every pipeline materials.

Don’t worry about leakage as there is no loss of flow.
